Guys, can we talk about toddler eating habits quickly?
I was always told toddlers eat like birds and are really fussy about what they will and won’t eat.
Willow is currently eating me out of house and home. Over the weekend she ate a huge bowl of oxtail for dinner on Friday and still demanded food off my plate.
She consumed a scrambled egg, tomatoes and cheese for breakfast the next day before tucking into gruyere and salami for lunch with her grandparents and had more cheese, strawberries and cherries that afternoon for a snack. For dinner on Saturday night she ate roast chicken, zucchini noodles, broccoli, green beans and baby corn.
On Sunday she had pork sausages, scrambled eggs, bacon and tomatoes for breakfast and snacked on some cherries. She had smoked trout and avo. Then she ate more cheese, half a punnet of blueberries, an oat cookie and biltong in the afternoon before polishing of a huge bowl of oxtail for dinner.
I don’t know where she is putting all this food! She’s a happy, healthy little girl and we never force food on her. We’ve taught her to ask for food when she’s hungry and we don’t force her to keep eating after she indicates that she’s had enough. I just never thought such a small creature would be capable of eating so much food.
I’m not complaining, she has a very healthy appetite. It’s just that this is contrary to everything I’ve been told about toddler eating habits. Do you have a toddler who ploughs through food like it’s her last meal?
